Combat boots built to specification for the Latvian NATO army. The 583 are manufactured by Samelin in Estonia to the exact spec required by the Latvian armed forces — waterproof textile combined with water-repellent split leather, Coolmax breathable lining, and a dual-layer PU/rubber sole. Not inspired by military boots. Made for them.
Why Latvian Army Boots
- Made for the Latvian NATO army — not a civilian interpretation, the actual service boot
- Coolmax lining — active breathability, reduces moisture build-up during sustained wear
- Dual-layer PU/rubber sole — the rubber layer adds grip and heat/cold resistance beyond a standard PU sole
- Waterproof textile construction — water-repellent split leather with waterproof fabric for all-weather protection
- Multi-standard certified — tested and passing: O2 (oil-resistant outsole), HI (heat insulation), CI (cold insulation), SR (slip resistance), FO (fuel resistant), HRO (heat-resistant outsole)
- Removable antibacterial insole — washable, replaceable
What the certifications mean
These boots carry a stack of EN ISO performance certifications that most "military-style" boots never test for:
| Cert | Meaning |
|---|---|
| CI | Cold insulation — tested for thermal protection in low temperatures |
| HI | Heat insulation — sole protects against hot surfaces |
| HRO | Heat-resistant outsole — withstands contact with hot surfaces |
| SR | Slip resistance — tested grip on wet ceramic and steel |
| O2 / FO | Oil and fuel resistant outsole |
For outdoor workers, field personnel, or anyone in environments with temperature or chemical hazards, these certifications matter.

Frequently asked questions
How do these compare to the M77? Different boots for different use cases. The M77 is a full-grain leather field boot focused on durability over decades. The Latvian Army Boots use split leather with waterproof textile, Coolmax for active breathability, and a rubber compound sole — better suited to high-output activity, wet ground, and environments where the safety certifications (particularly CI and SR) matter.
What is split leather vs full-grain leather? Full-grain leather (used in the M77) uses the complete outer hide layer — it is denser, more durable over time, and develops a patina. Split leather uses a lower layer of the hide, lighter and more consistent in appearance. Both are genuine leather; full-grain has greater long-term durability, split leather is often lighter and more uniform.
Are these waterproof? The construction combines water-repellent leather with waterproof textile — they handle rain and wet ground well. For prolonged submersion or standing water, the Waterproof Military Boots with PTFE membrane are the better choice.
Do I need special socks for these? Any good wool or synthetic military-style sock works. They are not designed for a specific sock system the way the M77 is.
