Desert boots with a side zipper. Because laces aren't always the answer. The Samelin 590 takes the proven desert boot silhouette and adds a full side zipper and Fury sole — practical on and off, better grip underfoot. Water-repellent leather and textile upper, NATO-certified construction. Made in Estonia by the same factory as the M77.
Why these boots
- Side zipper closure — on and off in seconds, no unlacing required
- Fury sole — purpose-built outsole with direct-injected PU for grip and durability
- Water-repellent upper — leather and textile combination resists light rain and damp
- Anatomical insole — antibacterial, washable, shaped for all-day comfort
- EU sizes 36–51 — one of the widest size ranges in the catalog
- NATO AQAP 2110 / ISO 9001 certified — same standard as Samelin's military boot contracts
Built for real use
The zipper makes these a practical daily boot — commuting, travel, workwear, and outdoor use. The Fury sole handles uneven ground and urban surfaces equally well. These are not fashion desert boots — the build quality and materials spec are significantly above that category.
- Daily commuting and urban wear
- Travel (quick through airport security)
- Light outdoor and countryside use
- Workwear where lace-ups are impractical

Fit and sizing
These boots run large. Size down one full size. If you normally wear EU 41, order EU 40. The last is cut wide and long — sizing down gives a proper fit. If you are between sizes, go with the smaller one.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the zipper matter? Lace-up boots are secure but slow. The side zipper on the 590 means you can put them on and take them off in under ten seconds without touching the laces. The laces stay tied for shape — the zipper does the daily work.
What is the Fury sole? The Fury is Samelin's direct-injected outsole designed for the 590 series. Direct injection bonds the sole to the upper as part of the manufacturing process rather than glueing — the result is a more durable bond that does not delaminate over time.
How water-repellent is the upper? The leather and textile combination resists light rain and damp conditions. These are not waterproof boots — for wet conditions or standing water, look at the Waterproof Military Boots. For ordinary rain and damp streets, the 590 handles it well.
Are these related to the M77? They are made by the same manufacturer (Samelin, Estonia) to the same quality standard. The construction spec and materials sourcing are equivalent. The silhouette and use case are different — these are a low-cut everyday boot, not a military field boot.

I bought these boots just over two years ago and the tread pattern is almost completely worn off. In the boots' defence I can say I lived in them from late autumn to early spring, which probably accelerated the wear. The uppers are still in fine condition.
In the second year the stitching came apart at the heel on one boot. Possibly I wasn't in quite the right size, as there has always been a problem with rubbing at the heel. Otherwise nice boots at a reasonable price.
The boots rubbed at first, but with plasters and persistent wearing the problem disappeared. Unfortunately the sole on one boot came unglued after a few months, but taking it to the store it was repaired without any fuss. Since we're a Samelin household, we had another pair as backup in the meantime.
These boots have lasted me a full year, which is rare — my footwear usually wears out in about six months (I wear one pair 80% of the time and walk a lot). They're going strong into the second year.
Very good! They breathe well too! I use them for motorcycling. I managed to order extra leather padding for both the outside and inside. Been using them for ~6 years. Super!
