How does the black differ from the other Widget Factory colorways? Same shoe, different leather finish. Black is the most versatile and the most popular. Light brown is warmer, dark brown is a deeper solid tone, and antique has a two-tone aged effect. All four use identical construction.
Are these shoes or boots? Shoes — low cut, no ankle support. For ankle-height boots from the same manufacturer, see the Tarkovsky or M77 range on whatshoes.
Who makes these? Samelin OÜ, Tartu, Estonia. 75+ years in production, NATO-certified. The same factory that makes Norwegian Army M77 boots.
Will the leather soften over time? Yes. Genuine leather softens and moulds with wear. Condition occasionally to keep the finish clean.
Do I need to break them in? Less so than boots. The leather and textile lining means they're comfortable from day one for most people.
